Pawpawsaurus – create every day challenge 2014 day 6

Today is day 6 of the “Creative Everyday Challenge, 2014″.  Where I draw something and post it every day.  January’s Theme is “Past, Future, and present”

I wanted to draw a dinosaur tonight, while researching native species to Texas, I ran across the Pawpawsaurus.  Well, Ada’s grand-dad is affectionately dubbed Paw Paw, so… I drew a Paw Paw – Saurus.  I can see the resemblance…

My Dad Thinks he is a Pirate – Create Every Day challenge 2014 day 5

Today is day 5 of the “Creative Everyday Challenge, 2014″.  Where I draw something and post it every day.  January’s Theme is “Past, Future, and present”

My Dad thinks he is a pirate.  He is building a boat and uses nautical vernacular to explain everyday things. Maybe he was a swashbuckler in his past?  Either way, in the near future is decade(s) long boat project will be done.  Pirate away, ol’ Man.

Pavel Datsyuk – Create Every Day Challenge 2014 day 4.

Today is day 4 of the “Creative Everyday Challenge, 2014″.  Where I draw something and post it every day.  January’s Theme is “Past, Future, and present”.

Tonight the Detroit Redwings play in my adopted home town of Dallas – facing the Stars.  Im pretty excited about them being in town so I thought I would make today’s challenge about my favorite player, Pavel Datsyuk.  I guess Im sticking with the theme still, since the game is in the future and I am excited about it.

I went a little less painterly with the figure this time around, more of a screen print looking thing.  I also went back to my old book about Michigan from day 1’s challenge.  The page is appropriately titled “The Best of Detroit”.

Hank Williams is floating in Space – CED 2014 part 3

Today is day 3 of the “Creative Everyday Challenge, 2014″.  Where I draw something and post it every day.  I bit off a bit more than I can chew AGAIN tonight, I would like to work on this a lot more…and obviously the background is stock image, but hey it works.

Sticking to the theme, “past, present and future” tonight I bring you, Hank Williams Sr. floating through space.  Hank passed tragically 51 years ago this week, so I have been thinking about him and his music a lot this week.  Ive actually had this idea in the hopper since about Tuesday.  Not to get to existential about things, but his legacy lives on here on planet earth, big time.  So many songs, so many folks influenced by his songs, and so on and so on.  Like branches of a tree.  That set aside… his music was transmitted by radio waves in the 40s and 50s, which would put those same waves somewhere like 50 light years away from planet earth (roughly, science folks if you can exact this one please do so).  Anyhow, this got me thinking, Ol Hiram is floating out there somewhere in space, in wave form… and if there is anyone listening they will hear that BEFORE Disco, Vanilla Ice, and Luke Bryan – all things that bode well for us not getting destroyed in some plasma ray hate bomb from afar.

Anyway, Cheers.  Installment 3 in the books.

Viking Nukes – CED 2014 day 2

Today is day 2 of the “Creative Everyday Challenge, 2014″.  Where I draw something and post it every day.  I bit off a bit more than I can chew tonight, I would like to work on this a lot more but I wanted to get the concept down, and done for the most part compositionally.

January’s theme is “past, present and future” Today I wanted to do something that meshes the past, and the present.  So, here it is.  Viking Nukes.  I dreamed this up late afternoon thinking what if a giant Viking came into the present and saw what we did to our home?  Axes flying, thats what.

So Much to Do, Detroit City – CED 2014 day 1

Bring it on 2014!

Today I start the “Creative Everyday Challenge, 2014”.  I have been meaning to start up a draw something and post it every day – type challenge for my new years goal and remembered seeing some posts last year from all sorts of folks who joined the challenge over at creativeeveryday.com so I started to join in with this community rather than go it alone.

So Much to Do, Detroit City

So Much to Do, Detroit City

January’s theme is “past, present, and future”.  Today I stuck with mostly past, grabbing an old book about Michigan, thumbing over to some info on Detroit and drawing a classic car over top.  I think it turned out pretty ok.  If I had more time I could work this up a little slicker, but thats not the point.  The challenge for me is to get something created and go with it.  Ile look back at some of the best over the year and re-work or put more time into them as I see fit.

So, enjoy “So much to do, Detroit City” CED2014 begins NOW!
